Helping Families Save for College

With a college education more important than ever in securing a good job, but with costs continuing to rise, the federal government must work to provide families with tools to save for college.

I support increasing the contributions allowed to the Coverdell Education Savings Accounts from $2000 a year to $5000 a year. This will help our families save money that grows tax free to help pay for a college education.

In addition, I will support legislation that encourages more lenders to participate in student loan programs so that higher education is more affordable.
