Promoting Recreation, Preserving Green Space, and Transportation

I will work to improve the quality of life of East Georgia by fighting to preserve recreational green and open space and encourage smart growth to decrease the negative effects of urban sprawl and traffic congestion.

I support efforts to include flexibility in transportation funds for bike trails, parks, and nature preserves to promote physical activity, recreation, and conservation. Physical activity is a key way to stay healthy and we should encourage it.

Oil is a key ingredient in asphalt. As the price of oil continues to increase, this will have a significant affect on the price of road construction projects. I will fight to ensure that the 12th District receives its fair share of transportation funding. I support local communities establishing their transportation priorities and will work to ensure they have the federal resources to help meet them.

I will work to streamline the process for approving and beginning transportation projects and remove time wasting barriers that contributed to increased costs, delays, and needless inefficiencies.

I will fight for funding for Interstate 3 to be constructed in a way that respects the local communities in which it will cross through and the environmental impact it will have.
