We must honor the commitment and sacrifice of our veterans and also honor the American promise made to them for their service.

The freedoms that we enjoy today are because of the service and sacrifices of our Veterans. I will be a tireless advocate and vote to protect increased benefits for our Veterans. It is inhumane and out of line with America’s values to leave our military retirees in any doubt that our country would not keep its commitment. This is also a personal commitment as five of my immediate family members are Veterans or current active duty.

That means I will support full health care and benefits comparable to any retiree from the federal government for our Veterans.

Ensuring Veteran Care
We must be certain that no veteran goes without access to quality and efficient care. I will fight to ensure our Veterans have access to the services they need. Those who have fought to protect our freedom deserve nothing less than my unwavering support.

Funding Veterans' Health Care
I will vote to increase funding for Veteran’s Affairs health care programs. I will ensure that that VA doctors are competitively paid in order to recruit and retain high quality physicians and dentists.

Serving the Special Health Care Needs of Veterans
I will support guaranteeing health benefits to veterans who have been exposed to radiation. I will fund studies on the health effects of exposure to Agent Orange and vote to give disability benefits to veterans with cancer and other health problems caused by exposure to Agent Orange in any capacity. I will ensure funding for mental health care in military retiree health plans.
